This article discusses research presented in Sturniolo T. et al. Nat. Biotechnol. 17, 555-561 (1999). Sturniolo et al provide important information regarding the use of computers in the development of vaccines. New gene chip technologies and rapid-sequencing are adept at finding masses of information quickly.Juergen Hammer, Francesco Sinigaglia and their associates describe a new matrix-based prediction algorithm for peptides that bind to major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II molecules which in humans are designated HLAs.
