Graphics high/low: Thirst on paper

Article Abstract:

Rick Valicenti of Thirst design studios, Chicago, is well-known for his witty designs and his use of intense graphics and unusual typefaces. His creation of an innovative paper sampler for Gilbert Paper has caught critical attention, because he has avoided the use of typical features, such as ring binders and simple types in the Esse paper catalogue. He has, instead, designed the catalogue to look like an artist's portfolio and has used photographs, drawings and graphics to describe his feelings for his friends and collaborators.
