Just as Chinese missiles threaten, U.S. stealth assets may be cut

Article Abstract:

The Pentagon budget-cutting discussions are focused on reducing procurement of some of the stealthy weapons platforms that are required by the US forces if they have to counter Chinese forces wielding hundreds of missiles. The Air-Force F/A-22 Raptor supersonic stealth fighter aircraft, the multinational F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the next-generation Navy DD(X) destroyer and CG(X) are some of the systems that are considered for cuts or elimination in ongoing Pentagon discussions.

Mullen wary on huge Chinese military buildup

Article Abstract:

The US Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. Michael Mullen believes that China's huge military buildup is a sign that it may attack Taiwan. The US is committed to defending Taiwan. However, analyst believes that with current non-stealthy aircraft and ships in the US inventory, China's radar-guided missiles could demolish American weapon platforms and hence they need to prepare for it.

Concern rises that China, not just terrorism, is the looming threat

The defense analysts in the US are voicing their concerns over the terrorism as well as the growing might and belligerency of China. The US is concerned over the increasingly unstable balance across the Taiwan Strait, the development of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), the rising Chinese militarization and the growing relationship between China and Russia.
