With Titan acquired, L-3 sees sales, income increase: CEO sees opportunities in future

The defense contractor L-3 Communications has attributed its increase in sales, income and earnings in the third quarter of 2005 to the acquisition of Titan Corp. L-3's consolidated operating income for the third quarter of 2005 increased by 33.7%, to $266.5 million from $199.4 million for the 2004 third quarter, and its consolidated sales increased by $722.2 million to $2.5 billion, up from $1.8 billion in the 2004.

With acquisition, IT contractor enters Intel market

Information technology contractor SI International acquired Bridge Technology Corp., which will enable SI International to enter the market of U.S. intelligence agencies, as it is more expensive building an intelligence business. Defense intelligence agencies and the intelligence agency in general are one of the fastest-growing parts of the marketplace of the federal government.

Titan merger creates bulkier C3ISR player

Article Abstract:

The merger between L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. and Titan Corp. in a $2.65 billion deal, greatly increases the production levels of command, control, communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C3ISR) systems. Several key programs have been contracted with Titan including the company's Integrated Broadcast Services and advanced digital waveform.
