Keeping a portfolio on track

Article Abstract:

Investment software can be used to manage a portfolio. Some programs, such as Metastock for Windows and Windows on Wall Street, require investors to have technical analysis abilities and daily data access. Pricetrack from Pricetrack Ltd is a product geared to less active investors. It uses Friday closing data for updates which can be supplied weekly or monthly. The program uses a series of spreadsheets and includes a share price system permitting graphing and manipulation of databases, and a section on reports, in addition to portfolio management.

Successful cycle riding: technical analysis spends much time trying to spot trends in market cycles

Article Abstract:

Traditional methods of financial market cycle identification require historic data and are slow to detect changes in the length of the cycle. Maximum Entropy Spectral analysis (MESA) was launched in 1978 based on advanced mathematics which avoids such problems. A new release of the system can now be used with Microsoft Windows and offers a better quality of display.
