Quantitative techniques: active quantitative techniques are increasingly used for tactical asset allocation and suporters argue that, used with more traditional methods, quants can significantly improve results

Article Abstract:

UK pension funds have adopted index-tracking strategies, following the observation that certain quantifiable characteristics may be assoicated with outperformance of the index, over long periods of time. Superior returns in the UK equity market can be gained by access to information not widely available, processing information faster and interpreting information more accurately. Most current quantitative techniques being used to select stocks all aim to achieve this.

Question mark over new pension product: Bradford & Bingley is the UK's biggest high street independent financial advisers. IFAs must offer best advice. But a new pension which the society has launched, while good value, is arguably far from the best available

Article Abstract:

Bradford & Bingley claims that its new free-standing additional voluntary contributions scheme (FSAVC) has the lowest charges and is unequalled in the market. The scheme was produced by Commercial Union. However other IFAs believe that there are other FSAVCs available with better performance prospects and greater investment flexibility.
