Korean biotechs seize opportunity to list on public markets

Article Abstract:

Cash-starved biotech companies in Korea are expecting that changes in listing rules for the Korean Stock Exchange (KOSDAQ) introduced in 2005 would allow them to float, as it would alleviate the problems faced by Korean biotech companies that are short of funding. Three Korean companies are preparing list on the KOSDAQ market division of Korea's exchange (KRX) out of which two most advanced firms in the process are hoping to raise about $20 million each.

Malaysia tiptoes on the heels of Asian neighbors

Article Abstract:

Malaysia announced its first 15-year National Biotechnology Policy on 28 April 2005 in an effort to gain a competitive edge by taking advantage of its traditional industries and ample natural resources. The policy defines nine focus points, including the development of three core areas, agriculture, healthcare and industry, as well as financial infrastructure development, human capital development and technology acquisition.

Swiss patent proposal prompts criticism

According to Swiss government new patent legislation is a balanced package that takes into account various and competing interests of society. The representatives of biotech and pharma industries disagree the laws utility requirement for further innovation of biotech research.
