Leaders, laggards and the pursuit of foreign knowledge

Article Abstract:

The study analyzes how firms in different technological and market share positions used foreign R and D to augment their technological capabilities. By considering both the technological and market share positions of firms, it reveals important characteristics that influence when firms use foreign R and D as part of a strategy to augment their technological capabilities.

Conceptualizing and measuring capabilities: Methodology and empirical application

Article Abstract:

Firm-specific capabilities are measured with the help of stochastic frontier estimation (SFE) methodology. Results indicate significant heterogeneity between firms in their research and development capability, persistent capabilities over a period of time and recognition of the importance of these capabilities by the market.

Shareholder valuation of foreign investment and expansion

The empirical analysis of shareholders' views on the profitability of foreign investment by multinational corporations is presented. The analysis of foreign investments of multinational corporations between 1981 and 2000 A.D., for this purpose, is presented.
