Leading accountants in birthday honours

Article Abstract:

The Queen's birthday honours list published in June 2006 included many top accountants with two significant accountants, retailing billionaire, Philip Green and Stelios Hajiloannou, the founder of Easyjet were being awarded CBEs. The group financial director of HSBC, Douglas Flint and Peter Wymann, former president of ICAEW and senior partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers were honoured for their services to the finance industry and accountancy respectively. Chris Swinson, former ICAEW president was given an OBE for his services to accountancy and Mike Jeans, ex -CIMA president was presented with MBE for his public and charitable services.

Liverpool's first president for 80 years

Article Abstract:

Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales pres Arthur Green feels that as the first Institute president from Liverpool in over 80 years, he has a special responsibility. This commitment shows in his encouragement of the Nov 1987 'Business Opportunities on Merseyside' conference, whose objective will be to interest representatives from international firms in Liverpool business opportunities. Green also addresses key issues facing the accounting profession including: self-regulation, adherence to standards of performance, cost and availability of professional indemnity, liability, and incorporation.
