Learn to ease backlog in marketing services

Article Abstract:

A good relationship between product managers and the marketing services department is vital to the success of the company's products. Product managers rely on marketing materials to be able to sell their products while their market window is still open. Unfortunately, these managers do not always get what they need from the marketing services department for a number of reasons. These may include the marketing operation's inefficiency due to poor processes, miscommunication between the two parties, delays caused by a picky or uncertain CEO, and the marketing department's refusal to admit that they cannot cope with their workload.

Article Abstract:

Techniques to choose the right public relations (PR) agency to represent an industry are presented. The candidate agencies may be narrowed down to a few finalists through interviews, evaluation of selling materials and evaluation of responses to problem scenarios. References may be checked in the period that the finalists are preparing for their presentations. The formal presentation and casual conversation will reveal the character of the PR agency. Other factors to consider are quality of personnel, attitude, ethics, price and ability to cooperate.

Successful PR hinges on preparation, empathy

Public relations (PR) professionals should show empathy towards clients to ensure success in the marketing world. Aside from clearly stating their names when making telephone calls to editors, PR persons should also clearly describe product functions and processes. A business card with the name of the firm being represented will enable editors to make return calls. Press kits should be minimal and news releases should be brief and factual.
