Life in the fast lane

Article Abstract:

There is fierce competition between automobile dealers in Britain, and this means tight margins. There are seven major motor dealings in the North West of England, with some dealerships from the city of Manchester, such as Smith Knight Fay, Priory Motor Group, Quicks, Lookers, and Radcliffe Road Garage. The seven biggest reported average growth of 11% for 1998. Consumers prefer to test drive vehicles prior to purchasing them, and do not have to buy at the dealer offering the test drive, but it is a marketing attarction.

Talented creatives long for ambitious clients

Article Abstract:

Architects from Liverpool, England, tend to do more work for clients outside the region of Mersyside. The region is well served with architects and Liverpool University has its School of Architecture. There is also a Polish national school of architecture which went to Liverpool in 1939. There is a lack of developers with ambition and the city has a large amount of unoccupied space which reduces the need for new buildings. Private sector work is thus less important than work funded by the public sector.

Reluctant to shout

There is little publicity about deals including those involving rapidly growing companies such as MTL Trust Holdings. There is a plan for a new futures exchange for Liverpool for which a feasibility study is being carried out. The plan is called the Livedex scheme and volves 3i, Ernst and Young and the Mersey Partnership.
