Limbering up for CCT and the council tax

Article Abstract:

The implementation of the UK's new council tax and compulsory competitive tendering of services in local government requires computerized processing of data. Like most projects, the effect of errors in the implementation of the new council tax may not be noticed until the project has been accomplished. A checklist for the computerization and implementation of the new council tax is, therefore, presented to help project managers and local authorities avoid errors which may seriously undermine the success of this project.

'Passport survey' plan ahead for council tax

Article Abstract:

The Department of Environment plans to authorize local councils to survey potential taxpayers in their locality. A questionnaire patterned after a passport application format will be sent to tax liable citizens. The planned empowerment is a result of complaints about local government's lack of statutory powers to exact data from taxable persons. However, problems may arise when persons to be canvassed are absent.
