Lockheed Martin targets sea-launched missile threats

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Martin corp. proposes to open up a whole new front with respect to the US' missile defenses by pursuing the development of a system for detecting ship-launched missiles, and thus addressing the asymmetric sea-based threat. The proposed solution, called Passive Coherent Location (PCL), would entail the use of frequency modulation, as an FM radio, and as a means of detecting incoming cruise missiles.

Lockheed Martin LCS does well in critical design review

Lockheed Martin Corp. plans for a future coastal warfighting vessel, the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), which performed well in a critical design review by the Navy. The company will build two copies of its version of the LCS first following the critical design review, with shipbuilding occurring under an option exercise that green-lights detail design and construction.

Lockheed Martin Corp. announced the successful conclusion of another test in the Joint Common Missile's (JCM) development while not mentioning that the 20-year program might never see its second anniversary. The Bush administration's threat to kill JCM after fiscal 2005 is known to the company but there are chances of being sustained by Congress.
