Next-generation sequencing outpaces expectations

Article Abstract:

Solexa, of Hayward, California, announced on January 8, 2007, the completion of an early-access program evaluating its next generation Genome Analysis system with customers and reiterated its intention to begin full commercial sales by early 2007. California based micro-array maker Illumina, announced its intention to acquire the firm stock transaction valued at around $600 million which would result in the new merger between Solexa-Illumina business joining several other companies.

The different undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs in bioethics continues to grow and are giving a lot of opportunities to students in pursuing studies and career in bioethics including medicine, life sciences or health related professions. The programs that help to choose the right career in bioethics with a careful planning are discussed.

Biotechnology as religion

Article Abstract:

Religious theological framework as well as quasi-religious biotechnological theory indicates that aging and fragility can be conquered. The identification of aging genes, the creation of long-lasting artificial organs and the use of telomerase and stem cell therapies would enable individuals to avoid the harmful effects of aging and escape mortality.
