Low and Bonar stuck in the wrong packet

Article Abstract:

Low and Bonar has seen a drop in its share price following a profit warning and results 6% less than estimates for 1996. The drop in share prices has been more than is warranted by the company's results. The group has mainly performed well, though 1996 results were hit by a drop in profit from silage wrap and the acquisition of a polypropylene fabric producer. The company has boosted margins since 1992 and new business could come from Kellogg with a decision likely by the start of fall 1997.

Crest offers an improved package

Article Abstract:

Crest Packaging has been hit by an increase in the cost of raw materials, followed by an increase in the value of pound sterling, which has affected exports. The company has continued to invest and has maintained good profit margins in cartons and plastic packaging. Margins should improve with an improvement in raw materials buying and production efficiencies. The company's results may not show a great improvement in 1998, but are likely to do better in 1999.
