Magazine midget with big ideas

Article Abstract:

Highbury House is a magazine publisher which was previously called Harrington Kilbride. The company has sold its distribution and conference activities, which were losing money, and has had an injection of funds. DPS Typecraft and WV Publications are two of its new acquisitions. Highbury House reported a profit for 1997, following previous losses. Further acquisitions are expected, and they could boost growth and cut costs. The company also has exposure to South Africa, mainland Europe and the US.

A publishing recovery story

Article Abstract:

Highbury House is a magazine publisher which has undergone a recovery. Results have been better than forecast, and the company has made some good acquisitions, such as Practical Publications, as well as moving into the Internet. Highbury owns 91 published titles, and has acquired RVC, an internet software publisher. The company could spin off the internet division, which would release additional value. The company's profit is forecast at 2.55 million pounds sterling for 1999 by Charles Stanley.
