Mapping With Atlas

Article Abstract:

Microcomputer software for creating graphic products for statistical or demographical study, such as maps, is described. Atlas, created at Strategic Locations Planning, is a mapping program with many peripheral features, such as the ability to produce colored maps. Hardware compatibility requirements are indicated. Demographic maps produced on Atlas are given. Terminal keyboard functions are described in detail, and the boundary system of Atlas is outlined. Costs are quoted both for Atlas and its upgraded version, Atlas AMP (Advanced Mapping Package), which is also currently available.

Article Abstract:

Spreadsheet programs for microcomputers are reviewed. A table provides information concerning these spreadsheet programs along with required equipment and prices. The VisiCalc, VAV-VisiCalc IV, SuperCalc, SuperCalc 2, and Perfect Calc are included. Two software products are offered to enhance VisiCalc: VIS-Bridge-SORT and VIS-Bridges\REPORT. A Visi-Calc program is demonstrated using tables to show spreadsheet data.

Going On-Line: Dialog and the Census Bureau

Dialog Information Service is one of the best known on-line systems. The Census Bureau joined the Dialog system in August. Its data base is called CENDATA. This article analyzes CENDATA. It includes instructions for accessing CENDATA and tables illustrating some of the available information.
