Miller-Freeman forges into IT publishing, trade shows

Article Abstract:

Miller-Freeman Publications Inc, a wholly-owned subsidiary of London-based United Newspapers plc, implemented its strategy of acquisitions in the high-tech field by its purchase of M and T Publishing (M and T) based in San Mateo, CA. The four magazines of M and T which was acquired by the company are Dr. Dobb's Journal, DBMS, LAN Technology and the Microsoft Systems Journal. Miller-Freeman specializes in technical publications in software development, network communications and databases. It publishes 42 trade magazines and organizes more than 70 trade shows and conferences.

IBM retains publishing joint venture with Bankers Monthly's new owners

Article Abstract:

International Business Machines Corp is publishing the Beyond Computing editorial insert in Bank Management after the Bankers Monthly is folded into Bank Management published by Faulkner & Gray. The insert will be self-funded through advertisements of IBM and its competitors such as Unisys Corp. The articles of the insert deal with technology issues of interest to bankers such as check image processing.
