'Nightmare' robot truck rolls on after race

Article Abstract:

Oshkosh Truck Corporation is planning to take a version of the TerraMax automated vehicle, which was a top finisher in the October 2005 Grand Challenge race, to the Army Yuma Proving Ground in January 2006 to further advance its robotic truck technology. Congress and the Pentagon wants 30% of the military truck fleet to be automated by 2015 and the company has to ruggedize the vehicle for the military and test it in increasingly difficult conditions.

Korb: Add soldiers, cut systems if necessary

Article Abstract:

The panel discussions reported that the army should add soldiers, and the Pentagon should cut its spending on national missile defense, the F/A 22 raptor aircraft, submarines and other systems to pay for that increase if necessary. Such a move could mean taking funds from the Missile Defense Agency, the Air Force, and the Navy to fund an expansion of Army personnel numbers.

NATO working to improve industrial partnerships-officials

Article Abstract:

Several efforts are being made by NATO to enable the alliance to better understand what technologies and capabilities the alliance needs to acquire in its procure programs. The capabilities include a system to track friendly forces as well as a means to defend airliners from terrorists wielding shoulder-fired missiles.
