Noritsu introduces series of digital minilabs

Article Abstract:

Noritsu America Corp has launched the QSS-2800 and QSS-2900 digital lab series at PMA 2001 in Feb 2001. The QSS-2800 series employs the Digital Light Processing technology of Texas Instruments Inc. The integration of 1.3 million, 16-micron-square metal mirrors onto a single chip is the basis for a light source controlled by the switching on and off of each individual mirror. The resulting reduction in light loss enables vivid digital photos to be output onto standard silver-halide paper. Both the QSS-2801 and QSS-2802 feature a high-speed film scanner and a high- specification digital print system.

Domestic off-shore production flourishes

Article Abstract:

Agfa Corp, Konica Manufacturing USA and Fuji Photo Film USA have expanded their manufacturing capabilities by conducting offshore production within the confines of the country where their products are slated for distribution. Konica employs Japan's proprietary technology while its operating methods are American. Agfa's facility in Bushy Park, SC, is responsible for its products being sold in the US and in Canada. Fuji is also operating in Greenwood, SC, to respond quickly to the needs of its customers in the US and in North America.

Cone Editions Press of East Topsham, VT, has unveiled the Piezography BW, an inkjet and media system that produces lab quality black-and-white prints using desktop printers. The company offers black and multiple gray chamber ink cartridges for use with a large number of Epson inkjet color printers. Cone also offers six different printing papers, including Matte, Gloss, Rough, Smooth and Warm Tone.
