Northrop Grumman profit gain eclipses rivals; Raytheon sees loss

Article Abstract:

Northrop Grumman Corp. entered the winner's circle among large defense contractors, with profits up 39.6 percent during April through June. Raytheon in 2003 ranked fifth among military-wares firms and has reported a loss in the second quarter of 2004, compared with a profit in the same three-month period in 2003 stemmed from charges, such as paying $222 million to settle a class action stockholder lawsuit and paying $24 million early retirement of debt.

Northrop Grumman sees major role for laser weapons looming

Article Abstract:

The company officials of The Northup Grumman Corporation believe that laser weapons systems would find place in the defense scenario in a big way in the coming years. The laser weapons have remarkable advantages over the conventional weapons and are cheaper to fire and has the capacity to fire lethal laser streams in a continuous undisrupted manner with an exceptional accuracy, and can protect the commercial airliners from attack.

Lockheed charges Boeing might have gained favored treatment

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Martin Corp. has alleged that the Boeing Co. may have acted improperly regarding an Air force program known as the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle. It complained that Darleen Druyun, a former senior Air Force acquisition official, admitted favoring Boeing, agreeing to an inflated $23.5 billion lease cost for 100 new KC-767 aerial refueling tanker aircraft.
