OTC glucosomine supplements threatened

Article Abstract:

The United States Food and Drug Administration's Center for Veterinary Medicine has released an "informal opinion" regarding animal dietary supplements and pet foods that claim to treat or cure joint problems with glucosamine or chondroitin. The office stated that it cannot classify the two supplements "generally regarded as safe" (GRAS) for use in the over-the-counter supplements and pet foods. These two supplements are considered GRAS for humans.
