Oliver Ashworth is carrying out a share issue in order to reduce debt and provide funds for expansion. The company has 51% held by venture capitalists who will retain a reduced stake. Ashworth has increased its turnover to 63.1 million pounds sterling for the year to Jan 31 1996 from 55.1 million pounds three years previously. The company's pre-tax profit has risen to 2.1 million pounds from 1.63 million pounds in this period. One director will sell options at the flotation to other members of the company's board.

The company is subject of bid speculation and is increasing dividends by 40%. This increases the attraction of the shares, though two directors own a stake of over 50% in Falcon. The company's operating profit increased in the six months to Sep 1996 though pre-tax profit was down due to exceptionals in 1995.
