Open offers for beginners

Article Abstract:

Companies may seek to raise funds through new issues of stocks, and offer stocks to institutional investors. Existing stockholders might also be made an offer of new stocks, without which their holdings could be diluted. Open offers are different from rights issues. Both are methods of raising new capital. Rights issues allow investors to sell their stocks entitlement, which they can benefit from financially, though they may not take it up. Investors have to pay for stocks in open offers, and are then able to sell the stocks.

If Wimbledon palls, turn cautiously to those other net calls

Article Abstract:

Internet stocks are difficult to predict and this presents problems for fund managers, who may prefer to avoid them. Meanwhile, the drop in value of the European currency, the euro, could help European economies and boost exports from Europe. The euro is likely to rise in value as economic growth strengthens in Europe. Meanwhile, smaller European companies have performed better than the market as a whole, especially in Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
