Pharming seeks puiblic support

Article Abstract:

The Dutch Committee for Animal Biotechnology has rejected Pharming's application to use nuclear transfer cloning technology to increase transgenic cows herds in the Netherlands. Using this technology, one produced by Pharming through a joint venture with Infigen, one can increase the odds of producing an animal with certain genetic traits to 100%. A Pharming representative states most of the Committee's members wanted the company to show that transgenic animals can produce a clinically useful protein in classical transgenic animals.

Research training and academic disciplines at the convergence of nanotechnology and biomedicine in the United States

Article Abstract:

The different academic disciplines that are important in education, training and development of young scientists interested in integrating nanotechnology with biomedicine are discussed. It is shown that cross-disciplinary integration of knowledge from engineering, physical sciences and biological sciences in a sequential manner over the course of higher education and training should be the structure for producing nanobiotechnologists.
