Digital minilabs offer opportunities to commercial imagers

Article Abstract:

The advantages of digital minilabs were the subject of a morning session during the APMA 2000 conference held in Las Vegas, NV. One of the speakers was Jeff Arywitz of Eastman Kodak, said the availability of digital minilabs provides absolute flexibility for image input at any level of enhancement, compositing and mixed output. He added that clients' demands can be met with quality scanners, powerful editing applications and output devices.

PhotoAccess offers retailers new digital camera photofinishing options

Article Abstract:

PhotoAccess, a Seattle, WA-based retail applications services provider, has expanded its digital camera photofinishing options for retailers, including grocery stores, mass merchandisers and drug stores. The company claims that retailers can provide their customers with high-quality, professional prints of photographs taken with any digital camera. In addition, the company will provide the retailers with a branded 'photo management, storage and transaction' Web site.

Blowing the whistle--without blowing your future

Article Abstract:

Photofinishing companies are advised to consider several whistleblower laws concerning privacy rights and the reporting of child abuse. Photo Marketing Association legal counsel Philip Moilanen urged every lab to adopt policies to help employees handle situations. Aside having a stance about illegal activities, employer must also educate employees on what is required by the laws in the state it operates, Moilanen added.
