Planning and control of distance education materials projects: a soft systems approach

Article Abstract:

Soft system analysis was used to evaluate the production methods of learning materials in Western Australia. Soft system analysis considers human elements of production such as management attitudes and leadership roles as well as organizational procedures such as scheduling and production processes. Results indicated that workers' sense of achievement and skill development were important in producing quality products.

Economic recession, corporate distress and income increasing accounting policy choice

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that level of financial distress and corporate decision to use income increasing accounting practices are not directly correlated, nor do firms that fail financially use these practices more often than firms that do not fail. Data are obtained from the business climate in Australia during the late 1980s.

A comparison of the impact of franchising on return and risk for two Australian industries

Article Abstract:

This article argues that businesses regarding franchising as a means of insuring survival make short-sighted decisions. Results from real estate and commercial printing, the effect of varied restraints, and the need for further research are discussed.
