Price levels and price dispersion within and across multiple retailer types: further evidence and extension

Article Abstract:

A hypothesis is developed to compare the price levels and price dispersion among the three types of retailers and is tested through an empirical analysis of data on the book and compact disc categories in Italy during 2002. The results suggest that although the Internet marketing has an efficiency effect on price levels and dispersion over time, it still allows multichannel retailers to differentiate within and across the retailer types.
