Pro labs, particularly commercial labs, jump into digital imaging

Article Abstract:

Professional photography laboratories, particularly commercial laboratories, are increasingly offering digital services, according to the 1998 PMA Cost of Doing Business Survey. According to the survey, professional laboratories report that digital imaging services correspond to 15.5% of sales. A typical commercial laboratory showed that digital image processing accounts for 23.4% of sales. In comparison, people laboratories report a lower digital processing business as a percentage of total sales at only 1%. Among commercial laboratories, although digital image processing accounts for about a fourth of total sales, the service seemed to replace some business rather than increase it.
