Psychosocial aspects of working with video display terminals (VDTs) and employee physical and mental health

Article Abstract:

The influence of video display terminals (VDT) on the psychosocial and physical well-being of employees are studied. Results show that factors such as job tasks, work pressures, career opportunities and work environment affect the health of VDT users. Steps can be taken to improve employee health including organizational support, increasing the number and complexity of tasks and giving employees more control over how tasks are performed.
