Transgenic crops expressing Bacillus thuringiensis toxins and biological control

Article Abstract:

A compilation of data on Bacillus thruingiensis (Bt) plants that emphasize the importance of well-designed, ecologically relevant studies conducted under confined conditions and the use of a systematic tiered approach for nontarget risk assessment is presented. The compilation would help in drawing some general conclusions that would help improve future risk assessment of Bt plants and direct the research agenda to ensure their safety.
