RIP for RNEP? Nuke program has bipartisan opposition

Article Abstract:

Representative Dave Hobson, chairman of the House Appropriation Committee energy and water development subcommittee, has halted the funding of a new weapon called Robust Nuclear Earth Penetrator (RNEP) and an arsenal of new nuclear weapons. Hobson feels that the nuclear stockpile will not be effective against their new enemies and the scarce national resources should be spent on some other competing national priority.

The bill builds on the excellent strong foundation of the 9/11 Commission's recommendations and it would also establish a national intelligence director with strong budget, personnel, and other authorities to break down stovepipes and knit intelligence agencies into an agile network.
