Virtual reality: The promise and pitfalls of going virtual

A virtual company is defined as one that is, for all practical purposes, outsourcing every major component of drug discovery and development to an outside contractor. Properly assembled and managed, virtual companies could be relatively more cost-effective than the traditional model for biotechs.

A detailed disclosure to obtain protection for biotech innovations provides a greater chance of meaningful patent protection. The level of detail required satisfying the disclosure requirement while seeking patent protection for genetic innovations are explained.
