Rapid changes alter media planning

Article Abstract:

Future developments in media planning will include the acceptance of syndicated research as a standard procedure and consequent diminution of the importance of audited circulation statements. The number of periodicals catering to specific interests will emerge as the growth of electronic publishing reaches maturity. Print media will eventually give way to electronic equivalents which could be the size of handheld screens.

'EE Times' wrecks readership study

Article Abstract:

EE Times' readership survey on the electronics publication segment was recalled after it was revealed to be 'tainted.' The manipulation occurred when EE Times elected to use a 'universe' of electronics professionals from its subscription list. Since the respondents came from EE Times' subscription list, the data cannot be a reliable representation of the entire electronics subscription segment.

Ziff-Davis title takes top spot in 1997 CIMS

Article Abstract:

The fourth annual Computer Industry Media Study by IntelliQuest found the Ziff-Davis' 'PC Magazine' at the top in its survey. Results showed that the magazine is the number one computer publications which influence businesses and consumers. The 'PC World' of the International Data Group fell to second place. However, 'The Wall Street Journal' topped the general business publications category.
