Raven might rise from the ashes

Article Abstract:

Card Clear retired executive director, Clive Bradley, has requisitioned an EGM to seek to reinstate two former directors, Oliver Cooke and Brian Raven. Raven was previously chief executive of Card Clear, and Cooke was the company's finance director. They were both forced to leave Card Clear following allegations that they misled the other board members over a payment. Bradley argues that the payment did not bring personal gain to Raven and Cook, and is not material, and seeks more details about the allegations.

All eyes turn to the Fed

Article Abstract:

The Federal Open Market Committee is meeting to discuss interest rate policy and there is speculation that rates will rise. This is expected to be the main influence on share price during the year. The Fed funds rate could be increased to 6.5-7% by the end of the year according to Stephen Roach of Morgan Stanley. Concerns are the upward tilt to wage inflation, and capacity constraints pushing up inflation. However some economists believe that interest rates do not have to rise much, if at all in 1997.
