Richard Jefferson

Article Abstract:

Geneticist Richard Jefferson is one of many in this global grass roots movement to create a framework for scientists to develop biotechnologies unimpeded by patents, licenses and lawyers. Jefferson moved to Wageningen in the Netherlands to establish CAMBIA (the Center for Application of Molecular Biology to International Agriculture) a not-for-profit research organization for distributing plant biotech research tools.

Article Abstract:

The anti-GMO protest broke on December 2004 in Argentina at the tenth anniversary of United Nations (UN) conference on climate change. The protestors disagreed about the genetically modified (GM) trees, which are considered a viable, clean mechanism under the Kyoto Protocol for sequestering carbons in the environment, which contribute to global warming.
