Riding on the back of world deregulation

World Telecom provides telephone services and is geared mainly to business clients. The company's main product is a charge card that reduces telephone charges for calls from overseas, especially from hotels. The card is provided to employees of 70 companies including NatWest. The company should benefit from deregulation in Europe from 1998 and from opportunities in the US. World Telecom's sales are forecast at 8.4 million pounds sterling for 1997 and 45 million pounds for 1999 by Collins Stewart.

Personal Number expands its offering

Article Abstract:

Personal Number was set up in 1995 by Geremy Thomas. The company secured a million phone numbers in an agreement with Vodaphone, and has a database of some 31,000 connections with recurring revenue accounting for some 70% of the group's total revenue. Personal Number has widened its product range which includes mobile and freephone rates. SmartOne is an innovation providing a unique lifetime number. The company's profit is forecast at 1 million pounds sterling for 1998 to 1999 by Beeson Gregory.

Putting payphones on Dublin's streets

Article Abstract:

ITG Group is involved in payphones and computer equipment which it both sells and services. Telephone sales and service account for the largest contribution to ITG's revenue, while the credit card and payphone divisions have the greatest short-term potential. The payphones division includes a license to compete in the market for street payphones. The company was floated on the Alternative Investment Market in May 1997 and a 66% stake is still held by the management.
