Rough nanotechnology smoothly gives barnacle the slip

Article Abstract:

Karen Wooley, a professor and polymer chemist at Washington University may have the answer to reducing barnacles on the hulls of ships. Ms. Wooley suggests using of a new coating technology: adhesion proteins of nanometer-sale dimensions that prevent barnacles from getting a good grip.
