Sears & America form alliances

Article Abstract:

Sears, Roebuck and Co and America Online Inc (AOL) have formed a strategic alliance to offer the Internet and related technologies into millions of households across the US. The alliance is intended to assist Sears customers in signing up for Internet service and subscribing to a co- branded edition of the AOL software. In addition, the partnership will offer consumers one-stop destination for both narrowband and broadband services and Internet-abled equipment from AOL.

Blockbuster & RadioShack form alliance

Article Abstract:

Blockbuster and Radio Shack have formed a strategic partnership that will introduce the Radio Shack store-within-a-store concept at all Blockbuster outlets. The alliance aims to establish a full-service home entertainment destination at Blockbuster stores while increasing Radio Shack's market penetration. The Radio Shack merchandising areas will range from 600-sq-ft sections to kiosks and will be staffed by highly trained sales associates.

La-Z-Boy and WebTV launch new 'e-cliner'

La-Z-Boy Chair Co and WebTV Networks Inc have launched the 'Explorer,' the first 'e-cliner.' The companies claim that the product is the most technologically advanced recliner for consumers to be comfortable with interactive TV, e-mail and the Internet. To attract buyers, the companies offer free Sony WebTV Plus Internet receiver, keyboard and two months of WebTV Plus interactive service.
