Siemens sells plants in Stribro and Plzen-Bozkov

Article Abstract:

Siemens Automobilova technika (SAT) (Stribro, Czech Republic), automotive cable manufacturer, saw proceeds of about EUR 75 mil, more than CEK 2.5 bil, in 2000. Its 2000 profit amounted to EUR 1.2 mil. SAT will be acquired by Alcoa Fujicura (US) shortly. The parent firm Siemens has decided to sell the branches involved in the production of automotive bunched cables. The reason is the incapability of long-term competitiveness on the automotive cable market, where the strongest firms are Yazaki (Japan) and Alcoa Fujicura (US). In the Czech Republic, Siemens will also sell a 75% stake in its automotive cable production plant in Plzen-Bozkov to Yazaki (Japan).
