Sikorsky VH-92 presidential helicopter smooth, quiet

Article Abstract:

Sikorsky Aircraft has showcased its VH-92 presidential transport helicopter in a smooth and quiet demonstration where the journalists checked out the luxurious cabin that presidents would enjoy on Marine One flights. The Pentagon procurement policymakers will now have to decide whether to give the next-generation Marine One VXX production contract to Sikorsky or a competing team of contractors including Lockheed Martin Corp. and Agusta Westland, an Italian-U.K. firm that makes the European EH101 military helicopter.

Heritage Foundation urges further defense industry globalization

Article Abstract:

A report from the Heritage Foundation, a conservative Washington think tank, urges further Pentagon moves to acquire weapons systems abroad and dismisses concerns about preserving the US defense industry as protectionist. The 48-page military report says that the Pentagon would be well served by purchasing systems made overseas, as it would give the armed services a wider choice of technologies and also generate competition that would mean lower prices paid by the Department of Defense, a boon to taxpayers.
