Skelton proposes Iraq withdrawal formula

Article Abstract:

Representative Ike Skelton (Democrat-Missouri) has proposed a formula for the American troop withdrawals from Iraq, which would provide a measurable sense of progress in the region. Skelton's formula states that for every three Iraqi brigades rated fully capable for duty, one American brigade could be deployed out of Iraq and this three-for-one formula is based on reasons both of quality and quantity.

Rumsfeld, Pace give mixed report on Iraq

Article Abstract:

The Iraqi government's assumption of leadership in the war against insurgents continues to progress, although the US still cannot say how big an enemy force remains at large. The Iraqis are going through a political process to select their government leadership, and there might be plenty of controversial debate as that process continues.

McCain: Send more troops to Iraq

Article Abstract:

Senator John McCain (Republican-Arizona) has called for increasing the number of American troops in Iraq and for preparing Americans to accept more costs and causalities before the US finishes its business. McCain believes that the US troops must stay in Iraq until Iraq's own security forces are fully able to defeat the insurgents.
