Headway has shut down its garden-furniture subsidiary and focuses on acoustic enclosures. The company is also supplies sofa beds through Europa Sofabeds, and is developing Headway Business Park using land from the garden furniture business. Headway is seeking acquisitions and aims to acquire companies making specialist products that are easy to make. The company's profit is forecast at 1.6 million pounds sterling for 1997 to 1998 by Beeson Gregory.

Land of the falling Nikkei: Japanese equities have been investment dogs for so long that they're practically a write-off. But could the market be about to turn the corner? if so,which funds are the ones to go for?

Article Abstract:

There are some in the investment community who believe that Japanese equities may be about to turn the corner, particularly with signs that the economic recovery has arrived. Japan's economy is resilient with a strong domestic base which will produce good growth in 1997, according to Adam Cooke, director of closed-end funds at Invesco, investment manager. He believes there are prospects for Japanese equities, especially in the small cap stocks.

Brothers Ridley and Tony Scott purchased the Shepperton Studios backed by Candover Partners, city buy-out specialists. There has been growth in the number of feature films produced in the UK, and Shepperton is one of just two major studios in the UK that can produce large scale feature films.
