Southern Union Co

Article Abstract:

Four officials of Southern Union Co (SUG), including Vice Chmn John E. Brennan, purchased 21,400 shares of the company's stocks in Feb 1992 at 15-15 1/2. SUG is a natural gas distributor serving Austin, El Paso, Port Arthur and Galveston, TX, and some areas of Oklahoma. Other buyers include the group of Chmn and CEO George L. Lindemann, whose purchases from Jan to Mar 1992 totalled 282,000 shares at 14 1/8-15 1/2. Heightened interest in SUG's stocks is due to the company's restructuring which involves divestments, acquisitions and joint ventures, and its return to profitability after incurring losses since 1986.

Sonat Inc

Article Abstract:

Sonat Inc Chmn and Pres Ronald L. Kuehn, Jr, has vowed not to decrease the dividend the gas transmission company currently pays. The affirmation is perceived as a means to stem the plummeting prices that has assailed the gas transmission industry in anticipation of much lower earnings for the 1st qtr ending Mar 1992. Sonat's March quarter results have not been reported yet but Kuehn's promise has created the desired effect of raising Sonat's stock trading rate which still remains below its 1990 and 1991 rates.
