Stockbrokers prepare for millenium push

Article Abstract:

Stockbrokers in the West Midlands region of England have seen major changes though the number of brokers has changed little. Greig Middleton has taken over Allied Provincial Securities and Williams de Broe is expanding in the region. Albert E. Sharp is market leader in the West Midlands and focuses on fund management. Costs tend to be lower than in London, England, though service is seen as more important than charges. ShareLink is one broker that does compete in terms of price and the company ranks among the largest brokers in the region.

Stockbrokers in the north-west: keeping the flags flying

Article Abstract:

Competition is strong among stockbrokers in north-west England. Costs have risen, margins are under pressure, and regulations have become more complex. A new share settlement system has been introduced and nominee accounts have been set up for some clients. Brokers operating in the region include WH Ireland and Albert E Sharp. Companies have benefited from the introduction of the Alternative Investment Market and a strong market for shares in the UK from 1995 to 1996.
