Article Abstract:

Computer and software manufacturers continually develop new technologies that quickly replace existing technologies. The rapid pace of innovation has often created confusion among consumers since they are faced with a wide range of product choices. To reduce confusion, companies have developed innovative marketing strategies to clearly distinguish their products from others. An example of these innovative strategies is integrated direct marketing which tries to incorporate customer perceptions into the marketing campaign.

IBM mends marketing using database

IBM Corp. has utilized its database for strategic applications aside from being just a mailing list. IBM and Federal Corp. have revamped their databases to increase sales. Business and marketing information were gathered from registration cards, education classes and computer system training to formulate its marketing strategy using its sales force and direct marketing tools.
