Stress-induced muscle effort as a cause of a repetitive strain injury?

Article Abstract:

The influence of stress-induced muscle effort during computer utilization is tested in patients with repetitive strain injury (RSI) and it is found that electromyography (EMG) activity is more in the shoulder muscles during typing after stress than after relaxation. Deviations in muscle activity during computer utilization, neuroticism and alexithymia, may be risk factors for RSI.

The effect of a feedback signal in a computer mouse on hovering behavior, productivity, comfort and usability in a field study

Article Abstract:

A comparison of the regular mouse to the effects of a new mouse with a tactile, vibrating feedback signal that prevents unnecessary hovering is presented. The new tacticle mouse decreases the hovering behavior without influencing productivity.
