Survival Research Laboratories

Article Abstract:

The San Francisco-based Survival Research Laboratories (SRL), headed by Mark Pauline, is a group of iconoclastic mechanics and engineers who create animal-like machines for disturbing, violent yet thought-provoking performances. These machines are similar to weaponry but are instead meant to incite audiences about politics, psychology and mankind, despite Pauline's denials of being an artist. SRL, which operates under a low budget and has ironically been revered by military peers, is preparing more ambitious machines and tours.

Tyco Laboratories Inc

Article Abstract:

The stock of diversified manufacturing firm Tyco Laboratories Inc is given a buy rating as of the end of Mar 1993. Four directors purchased 3,091 shares at an average of $42.50 between Dec 23, 1992, and Feb 17, 1993. The insider activities are considered better than an average buy cluster and an averaging-up pattern was also evident. The accumulations also negated the insider selling in late Dec 1992. One of the buyers also has a commendable trading history.

Optical Coating Laboratories Inc

Article Abstract:

Optical Coating Laboratories Inc manufactures multi-layer optical thin-film coated products. Insider sales of shares in 1992 was the largest since 1984 with 275,660. Insiders, however, have almost cleared out as many shares during the 1st qtr 1993 with 268,311 shares at the $10 to $13 range. The sales were mostly option-related and traded near record high levels. However, the substantial volume involved suggests that negative news are forthcoming.
