Scientific Atlanta

Article Abstract:

Broadband communications equipment manufacturer Scientific-Atlanta Inc's projected earnings for FY 1992 has been lowered to 55 cents per share from 65 cents. The conservative estimate may be attributed to weak demand for communications equipment such as antennas, receivers and demodulators. On the other hand, projected earnings for FY 1993 is pegged at $1.10 per share in anticipation of a turnaround in the cable television business. This forecast was reinforced by Charter Oak Partners' purchase of 141,000 shares, which increased its stake in the company to 6.8%.

Tektronix Inc

Article Abstract:

Tektronix Inc posted a $2.9 million (10 cents a share) loss for the fiscal third quarter through Mar 7 1992. The company's loss was further aggravated by a $17.3 million pre-tax restructuring charge. These losses, however serious they may seem, were anticipated, and pale in comparison to the more pressing problem presented by Tektronix's sixth consecutive quarter of lower sales. The manufacturer of oscilloscopes, computer graphics and television monitoring and testing equipment attributes most of its losses to lowered demand in the international market.

More than 234,000 of the sold shares were disposed during the second half of Mar 1993, exceeding insider sales for any full year since 1987.
