Telecommunication firms increase their proceeds

Article Abstract:

Czech Republic: Telecommunication firms saw proceeds of nearly CEK 100 bil in 2000, 22.6% more compared to 1999. The firms invested CEK 51.765 bil in 2000, 65.2% more compared to 1999. Their average monthly wage rose by 15.4% to CEK 23,206 in 2000 compared to 1999. The number of employees at telecommunication firms rose by 1.1% to 26,630 in 2000 compared to 1999. All the sector of communications, which includes telecommunications and postal services, increased its proceeds by 20.7% to CEK 113.7 bil in 2000 compared to 1999. Post and delivery, mainly Ceska posta (Czech Republic), decreased their investments by 40.6% to CEK 870 mil in 2000 compared to 1999.

Not even profits made KPN stay at Telecom

Article Abstract:

Cesky Telecom (Prague, Czech Republic), telecommunication company, has lost its strategic partner TelSource (Netherlands). The consortium wants to sell its 33.5% share in CT. TelSource's majority owner KPN (Netherlands) is getting rid of all property in central and eastern Europe owing to a lack of finance. KPN's financial problems started when the firm was awarded a licence to operate third-generation UMTS mobile phones in Germany.

Cesky Telecom is awarded a state contract

Article Abstract:

Cesky Telecom (Prague, Czech Republic), telecommunication firm, has been awarded a state contract worth CEK 2-5 bil per year. On the basis of the contract, the firm will connect all state offices and ministries and will control their telecommunication networks. All the system should be commissioned within two years. The government made a direct decision without having declared any tender.
